One of the key challenges for complex teams is aligning all members to work towards the same goals. The more complex the team, the harder and more essential team alignment is. This presentation will introduce participants to a framework for understanding why team alignment is so important and a structured discussion tool to facilitate team alignment discussions,

About Speaker

Corinne Bendersky, Professor of Management and Organizations at UCLA Anderson School of Management, is an expert in workplace conflict, status, justice, and diversity and inclusion in teams and organizations. Bendersky’s research contributes to both academic knowledge and organizational practice.

In recent projects, Bendersky has conducted a workplace DEIB cultural assessment of the public sector employees of the City of Los Angeles, developed interventions to reduce the gender bias experienced by women who work in extremely male-dominated professions, like the U.S. fire service, and has been using machine learning techniques to study how working women have been represented in the news media since the passage of the Equal Pay Act in 1963 through the #MeToo movement.

Bendersky teaches in all of UCLA Anderson’s MBA programs and in many of its executive education programs. As faculty director of the UCLA human resources roundtable known as HARRT, Bendersky engages with a mix of academic, consultant and practitioner knowledge of cutting-edge human resources topics with the roughly 50 corporate HR executives who are members. As founder of Morpho Leadership Development, she consults with corporate and public service agency executives, particularly on conflict management, team effectiveness, and diversity and inclusion.

Join us for the 2026 Fall Quarter Demo Day for Young Tech Professionals (YTP) – a project-based tech bootcamp focused on social impact, hosted by Innovate@UCLA. 

Now in its fourth academic year as a course, ENG170 was originally developed through the Innovate@UCLA program and is led by Jim Davis, Vice Provost Emeritus and Professor of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, and Davida Johnson, Executive Director of the UCLA Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC).  

This year’s course theme is LA28, and six student teams have been developing innovative solutions addressing real-world community challenges. Working in teams, students selected projects in SmartCities, Civic Tech/Community Engagement, or Sports Tech. Over the course of 10 weeks, students received mentorship from industry professionals and collaborated with subject matter experts to develop impactful, real-world solutions.

Each team will pitch their solution and present a live demo of their MVP in front of a panel of industry judges. This is a great opportunity for you to network with UCLA faculty, mentors, and tech leaders.
